This blog is going to be one hell of a ride, I can guarantee you that. 😉

My name is Karim Saridar. I am a senior at the American University of Beirut pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. I am concentrating in General Finance since I’ve always liked the “numbers” side of things and I never enjoyed lots of reading or memorizing. The school I attended was International College, Beirut.

I was raised in Beirut my entire life and I didn’t have the chance to live outside Lebanon and experience different cultures before coming to AUB. With that being said, although I wasn’t really exposed to different cultures throughout my life, digital data was the one thing that helped me in this aspect. Digital data, from social media to the news found on the internet are what made me receptive to everything that’s happening in the world such as new trends, inventions, and even communications with people from the outside.

I am a huge fan of movies and TV shows and spend a good amount of my free time watching them and sometimes reviewing them. I am also a fan of all kinds of sports, and tend to practice most of them regularly. But, football has to my favorite of them all. I used to be part of the football team at school, but now I just play it for fun with my friends about three times a week. Fun Fact: I’m a die hard Manchester United fan and I’ve actually been supporting them ever since I was 7 years old. 🙂

Another passion I’ve had for a long time is Music. I loved listening to music ever since I was a kid. My music tastes have however changed as I grew up. I used to be a pop and house fan, but now I’ve grown into becoming a hip hop/rap fanatic. I admire the hip hop world and am up to date with all the latest songs/albums that drop and the news surrounding my favorite artists. I even started a hip hop page on Instagram but, unfortunately, it didn’t last long.

Now enough with the trivial stuff and on to professionalism. Given that I am a senior, I am at a stage in my life where I have to start planning my future. I plan to find a job, preferably one outside of Lebanon, once I graduate in order to gain experience in the professional world. Although I wanted to pursue a master’s degree in Finance, I think that gaining a couple of years of work experience before can be much more advantageous for my career.

I took ENGL 256D, in anticipation to learning more about the impact of the digital world on our daily lives, the different tools used, and to help myself build a legitimate digital presence in my career as digital technology is the future.
